Approximately two years ago I purchased a DB6 Vantage with A/C from Paul Sabine and now it is almost in a state where it can be driven and hopefully enjoyed, thanks to the recent efforts of JagAyre (Gary Ayre), Dandenong Road, Clayton. After an extremely frustrating and disappointing period dealing with others in the restoration business, I finally engaged Gary to both co-ordinate and undertake the completion of the vehicle, which is aimed for completion this weekend.
One problem I experienced was sourcing an exhaust system in Australia that at least came close to the original specifications. Finally, I managed to source a complete stainless system from AFB systems in Woodbridge, VA, USA. Their website is www.afbsystems.com.
The price of the complete system was US$1,179 plus shipping. As we maintain an apartment in LA, I had it shipped there and then brought it back to Australia as part of my regular luggage. The box it comes in is approximately 4’ high and 12” square, weighing approx 60lbs.
Members that may be experiencing problems getting their Aston Martin ‘put together’ the way it is supposed to be may care to speak to Gary and those that are frustrated in trying to source an exhaust system that is close to original specs may care to contact AFB Systems, as an alternative to sourcing it from the UK.
